There's my confusion, "Official" how? The company doesn't have a trained "official" rep, because there is no "official." It's a franchised Newsagent with a teeny sub-Post Office in the back so the only representation they have access to (as there isn't a union) is ACAS or another member of staff to act as their representation. ACAS don't do that sort of thing and have advised Mum that everything that is being done, complies with the letter of the law in employment terms, the CAB said the same this afternoon, she had Sheila (another employee) there who I suppose acted as an 'official' rep but that's about it, there isn't anyone else.

TBH there's grounds for appeal regardless, since they have no evidence at all and no-one seems to think she did it, so I'm not sure what they're going to do, but she'll definitely appeal it, unless the decision goes in her favour of course :D

Hey Y'All.

Mum just called, she's been completely exhonerated and goes back to work Monday *cheers*

Apparently the woman doing the investigation said that there were no charges for her to answer after a review of procedures and a review of the audit trail, so it's all good, Mum is consulting on the new procedures being put in place and both managers are getting "re-trained"

That's brilliant news Zippy, 'grats to your Mum. :)

Let's just hope they get the proper procedures in place now.

My dad just started a new job as the southern manager for a foreign exchange company.

After his training for the past two months he turned up to a branch on Monday out of the blue and introduced himself etc, after counting the cash he finds that they're significantly down, and the books don't tally.

Had to suspend every one of the staff and start an investigation similar to this.

Must have been quite a first day for him lol

That's great news for your mum. Have you got enough time to go and buy her a mug to take in to work, with a big smug grin printed on the side, possibly with the words "Big Smug Grin" printed in big red letters underneath.

:D
