As the thread title suggests really ![]() The PS3 has been heating up ridiculously playing GTA4 (which I'm certain is more to do with the game as it only happens then), and I'd like to help prolong it's life if possible ![]() Obviously the quieter and more effectively powered the better ![]() |

You could make your own using like a 120mm fan and an old USB cord from something. USB outputs 5v, so simply splice the fan into the lead and you should be set. |

It does get warm, but it is fine, just keep the vents hoovered for dust and keep a space around it. It won't die at the drop of a hat like a certain rival console... |

I did this too and it's a piece of piss. Except I used 2x 60mm fans I had from a spare case, and modded them into the back of an Ikea TV cabinet (photos when i cba ![]() It's hardly technical, and all you need is some wirecutters and vinyl tape. I went a step further and bought this powered USB hub. All you have to do is plug it into the wall, switch on, and the fans power up. I used to run them direct from the PS3, but that's only generating more heat inside the console. All the "proper" USB powered fans get [LIFTED] reviews. The main thing you can do to keep the heat down is make sure the console is well ventilated. If it's in a cabinet, keep the doors open. Try and have some sort of venting at the back. |

Love to see the pics! ![]() I have the PS3 behind the TV (not directly obviously) where it's still getting more air than it would in the cabinet - you wouldn't believe how small my room is ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yeah, I looked at that one but the reviews are crap, saying it doesn't clip on right etc... 'Spose I could always try it and get my ma to take it back if it is crap ![]() |
