Right, short and sweet because I'm wanting to go sleep. Hows about X404 gaming night? Some people have said that they still play UT99, and UT2004, which are very easy to run on more or less anything (YES, UT2004 IS MAC COMPATIBLE!!11!), and easy to play online. I'd happily host the game. Just an idea. Lemme know what you think, and leave some game suggestions.

I'd probably be annihilated, but I'd be up for some 2K4. Maybe a big CTF game would be cool.
Would depend when of course, but its a good idea.

Would be more up for UT99 as I don't have UT2K4!
But sounds awesome.

Can't you download it for free these days, provided you can put up with it being full of ads? Monday evenings (except this Monday) would probably be best for me.

Epic Megagames (who made the game) have stopped supporting the game now, so it shouldn't be as illegal to torrent it. I say not as illegal, as you'll still be using a copy what someone else ripped onto their PC IE pirated. But I must say I used to use a torrented version of UT99, and it played fine online. Oooh, just had a thought. How about OpenArena? Open-sauce version of Quake 3, which is free to download for Windoze\*nix\OSX. Could potentially be very cool.

I very approve of that idea. I've been meaning to do it for ages, but since I've got the original I couldn't be bothered For the original Q3 I run a server now and then on quake.yourwired.net, although I don't think I've ever had more than 4 players

True but UT2K4 would be better in that sense, you can pic it up for next to nothing and it will run on anything from i7 to P4 (etc). Friday nights are best for me. Hobgob.

UT sounds like a good idea. Also, what about Trackmania? It's great fun and will run on anything (even integrated graphics) and free.

i second this. trackmania is great fun, so long as the maps are made well ja reckon anyone would notice if we snuck onto CPC's team fortress 2 server every once in a while? its always empty, apart from readers nights

Right, so it's a tie between UT99, UT2004, Openarena and TrackMania. TBH, I thin OpenArena would be the best, as its a small download (only like 100mb), plays on anything at all (probably a dialysis machine. ) and is easy to get set up. I might get a poll set up tomorrow, but now I cannot be arsed to even move. Hawkstone park + 5th overall is hard work.

Adam, could we not have more than one game? Probably not on the same night in order to make sure we have plenty of people but maybe Openarena (never played that) on one night and TrackMania on another. TrackMania is a 503MB download - hopefully not too bad for most and will run extremely well on a P4 with Intel integrated graphics and 512MB of RAM. Or maybe we could do one game one week and another the next and alternate.

well the Game Name Thread is there so you can get hold of people... but I'm up for a 'readers night'... as said preferably with one of those games that'll run on practically anything and is cheap/free for those that don't have it...
*has thought of doing a 'free/cheap games' post*
