Yip, and so far challenges of every description are right beside each other in given locations, probably because of the map layout - you get shoot-outs, races, jumps, etc.

On my phone earlier, just to make clear, I mean combat, car, gliding etc are all near each other.

Batman: Arkham Knight PC was outsourced and ported by 12 people, Rocksteady issues statement | Shacknews

Doesn't really matter - either it was deliberately put out utterly broken, or absolutely nobody tested it. It's getting to the point where a body is going to have to call BS and start fining companies.

For the love of... I hope that day one patch fixed any problems the game had on the PS4 if that's the case. I won't buy the DLC anyway until it's dirt cheap, cos lets not kid ourselves that they didn't develop it alongside the 'main game' (somehow every major retailer you can think of got an exclusive). And their £30+ season pass? Go drown yourselves...

Well they said all DLC will be available later in the year. Seems prudent for me to wait.

They're absolutely determined to write the car into the game at every juncture so far - sometimes it works out, more often not.

You won't be surprised to hear Riddler's in the game (annoying as ever, especially the jumpy audio/video broadcasts he specialises in). Currently I'm on one of his missions in the car, and you can't progress the main story until it's completed. And guess what? A split second's wrong timing and you have to start ALL OF IT over again.

What sort of a d1ckhead comes up with this sh1t in 2015?

That kind of annoying stuff is often what makes me put a game to one side, where it inevitably gets left and forgotten about. Never happened in the main storyline but definitely there were times in the previous Arkham games where I just gave up. These were the challenges though, not the main storyline/side quests/riddler missions.

Whats the combat system like? Same as before?

It's got to the point now where Riddler taunts me throughout the city because I haven't done his infuriating challenges. The main story isn't bad so far.

The combat is same as ever, really. There's the odd 'push two buttons together' bit that's been added, but little has changed.

That's annoying. In AC, the Riddler would taunt you as you did the challenges but left you alone at other times.

I think I've nearly completed the main story, but I'd need to check the stats. If I have, well, the story's a little weak. It's more of a cipher to hang scenes on than a plot.

There's far too much of an emphasis on the psychological chatter. It keeps trying to let you into the minds of the villains, but it's NEVER ENDING. Constant chatter while trying to complete certain missions or inside a building (which is often illogical), or just some really hammy jokes.

There's so many action scenes they get right, and the layout of the game is mostly brilliant, but some of the detail around it gets to be incredibly monotonous. And the cutscenes... the character models haven't improved from the PS3 days, and it's more noticeable now that they wanna show off the processing power. Not keen on the voice actors or the dialogue either. It all seems a bit lazy.

To sum up, so far it's a mix of Origins and City with better missions, but a lot of sh1t's overused.

Finished the game last night*. It really is a mixed bag. The game isn't disastrous, but it's all over the place.

For the most part the car sucks balls. They have to justify it so they write it in as much as possible. They have so many ideas for it that you'd just rather be getting on with the game proper. The vehicles that attack you are drones because Batman doesn't kill and you have to 'sneak up' on some of them in your car/tank. Yeah.

There's also some bizarre decisions made. A couple of weapons are somewhat hidden for no reason whatsoever, and others that Bats has had for years now are story-timed. The villain team-up makes no sense whatsoever. Other villains old and new, major and B-list are introduced for nothing more than distractions; they're barely a part of the story.

There's a solid game underneath it all, that's what's really galling. Some of the action is straight-up brilliant, and there's some genuine LOL moments. But they threw the kitchen sink at it, and not in a good way. I certainly wouldn't/didn't pay the RRP for it, and you might as well wait for the cheaper GOTY edition as a result.

Oh, btw, I seemingly got lucky when it came to bugs. It's loaded with them, but my playthrough only found a few towards the end. Falling through the floor, freezing during a load scene, going completely trippy...

* There's one side-mission left which may or may not add to the story, but it won't fix it.

The Harley Quinn 'DLC'? Lasts ten minutes. It's not even a good ten minutes. It's not even a decent prologue for the main game.

The rot set in when WB bought a majority stake in Rocksteady, first shown in Arkham City with the Catwoman 'DLC' and other bullsh1t. But this crap was ultimately sold as a way of deciding what version of the game you were gonna buy

The Catwoman DLC was okay - I think mine was free because of the collector's edition. But I did miss being Batman. Catwoman had her own challenges and achievements which padded out the game a little, but they could have done with either keeping it as part of the game (rather than DLC) or omitting it altogether.
