Tie Fighter was amazing and was probably the first game that had me routing for the Empire.

I would add the Empire at War game. Playing as the Empire can be great if you have can trap the rebels in a space battle.

My five in no particular order:

Shogun Total War: This game has led to an addiction to the TW series.Empire & Age of Empires etc i could never get into.Civilization yes they're ok but this is a game i still like to play.

Half Life 2: Waited so long for this to come out .Forever checking gaming mags for any news...

F.E.A.R.: Love the slow mo in this.Would replay certain levels just for that.At times it scared the crap outa me as i often played in the dark.Late at night.By my self.  Still play it.

Call Of Duty 1,2, but especially Modern Warfare. These games led to my first steps in multiplayer land.Much to the annoyance of my wife

Deus Ex:There's something about this game,I don't know what, that makes me keep going back to it.I love the story & game play.Even though it's beginning to show its age it's another game i reach for.Alot.

yours wecrookie

My top five... I think.

Nevryon - Acorn Archimedes A3000

Tomb Raider 2 - Playstation

Super Mario World - SNES

Super Mario Land - GameBoy

World of Warcraft - PC

Ooh...

Half Life 2: Episode 2 - PC too, damn, that's 6.

Chosen as the top five games that I played and had an effect on my life and gaming etc...

It's disappointing that none of them are less than about 10 years old. (With the exception of HL2: Ep2).

In no particular order

FEAR - one of the only games to make me Jump
C&C - well you need an RTS
Elite - Original (and when they have finished it maybe the new one)
Asteroids - I spent a lot of 10p's playing this
Half Life - built on DOOM and all the other FPS's - again it had a good story that made you care
