New PlayStation Store: A video guide to the pros and cons

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/37 ... -and-cons/

Are they for real with the searching and 'buying' process? It's a bloody shambles!

It's not even got as far as people using it and it's already a shambles. They had to 'roll back' the update when it turned out they'd only got half as many servers as they actually needed. Since then the've been rolling the update out by country, so as we speak Saudi Arabia and Finland have the update but France, Germany and the UK don't, even though they announced it would be available for all EU countries last Wednesday. It's due to go live in the US next Tuesday. I really, really can't see that happening.

No, me either. We're back to not testing your product properly...

Actually the cloud stuff you get with PS+ works perfectly. 'Bout the only thing they do online that does...

I can confirm that the direness you see in the vid above is how it stands for us too... everything has a delayed reaction currently, and trying to find anything is an absolute bollocks since the search is laughable and some of the screens aren't orientated correctly (sale page that only displays 3 titles at a time, for instance). Just trying to download a demo requires more use of the d-pad than the days of 16-bit*

* Accidentally added something to your checkout/download activation page? Highlight the item, then look for the small 'X'...

Had a quick look, seemed to be very much appearance prioritised over functionality, however I could find the things I tried looking for quite easily. I guess the actual test is next Wednesday, when new stuff gets put on and everyone wants to download bits of it.

I searched for quite a few things and it gave me 'everything but' in many cases. I'd sooner type in a whole word than continually check the side of the screen!

New PlayStation Store 'now live across Europe'

'Who do you think you are kidding Mr Sony...'

Must see if it's actually any faster now. I predict they'll have to change it all again soon; it really is sh1te.

The impact is actually relatively minor. The only 'jailbreaks' that exist for the PS3 only work on an older version of it's firmware (and that key being available isn't going to change the situation) so the number of people who can exploit this is fixed. Plus the hack itself is known to have a not-insignificant risk of bricking the console when applied. As a result, hacked PS3's are a bit of a niche, and a niche that's slowly reducing over time.

It's not at this stage of a generation when 'hacking' costs a console maker a lot of money, it's if it happens earlier on in it's lifespan. Sony managed to keep the PS3 relatively secure for a long time (at the cost of a lot of bad publicity, but that doesn't show up on the balance sheet). Assuming the PS4 will go on sale this time next year, at least in Japan and/or the US, the window of opportunity for 'mischief' is pretty small.

With Sonys reputation they probably have implemented this key in the PS4
