Terminator Salvation - It's a decent enough game (you have to remember it's years old), with the cutscenes and scenarios being especially well put together (it creates more atmosphere than the film ever did).

However, the shooting ain't that accurate and parts of it have clearly been rushed, with save points miles back from where you actually died, and totally random health regeneration (no med packs here).

I have to say I gave up in the end rather than do one particular scenario all over again. It could have been a great game with a little more time and effort. It's very telling that it didn't even get a patch - and how often does that happen?

WWE 2K14 - Or whatever it's called. It's a decent game, but I'm far too old for this retarded timed-button pressing business. Who wants to be doing that 30 times a match (no joke, that's how you counter)?

Infamous: First Light - Exactly the same as all the other games, just a quarter of the size.

Civilization Beyond Earth (or Beyond the Rim) or whatever its called.

Played the demo over the weekend.

Just re-skinned Civ5 - not a patch on Alpha Centauri.

Might get it when its a £5 but not shelling out £30 for it

Risen 2 - Sweet Jesus, the children... Where to start? The game doesn't write to the HDD, everything is streamed off the disc. This means some seriously delayed sword fights and characters disappearing when just walking.

Everyone has an English accent, and even for a PS3 game the animation is seriously wooden - dramatic conversations are conducted by people swaying like they're at a UB40 gig.

Ninja Turtles: Secret of the Ooze - Metroid-style, knocked out in five minutes crap from Activision. You actually have to run out of a section and fight a bunch of enemies AGAIN just to get an item that in conjunction with the crap controls might let you progress in the section you just left.

Shadow Warrior - first person sword game, it plays exactly what it sounds like but with an attempt at humour. It's a rental at best because the controls are ropey and so on.

Started on Skyrim again. Thee seems to be quite a lot I've not covered, so thought I'd continue.

X-Men arcade - regional voiceover FTW!

'You are welcome... To die!'

'I have killed... You!'

Got Witcher 2 in the Steam Sale and had a very quick go tonight. Got my ass handed to me on normal difficulty. Twice. That's a new experience!

Alien: Isolation - Masterful at ratcheting up the tension, especially if you've turned the lights out and are using headphones! I only rented it to test it and actually got munched by the creature on it's first appearance (I don't know if this was random or not), so stopped at that point. The game has gotten cheap really quickly and I expect will wind up on Plus sooner rather than later, so... but bloody good so far.

The level of detail (especially relevant to the franchise) is utterly fantastic BTW.

I've been fairly impressed by the reviews - apart from one that reckons the AI is crippled, although nobody else agrees - so I will be picking this up at some point. Getting a bit bored of Skyrim, and I forgot to backup my steam folder prior to a reinstall and lost all my progress in Thief, but I cba to run through half the game again.

I found a cat box in it!

The tension is pretty good. When I bought my copy, the guy who sold it to me said I should play it in “hard” mode - so that’s what I’m doing. I got attached by the creature once, but that was after it was first introduced by the game in a cut scene. Now, yes, I’m wondering where it is every time. There are some interesting features in the PS4 version (I expect the XBone has the same). Notably, if you have the camera connected and someone makes a noise in the room YOU are in, characters in the game will respond to it. You HAVE to play it quietly!

I have the Crew Expendable content pack, so here’s a clip of part of the Nostromo.
