we want a cabinent based on ability regardless of gender. If that means there were one man and twenty odd women but they were the most able then fine. It cuts both ways. |

And while she is at it, why not make a cabinet with 50% black people, and 50% gay people? Get the 'equality' across the board. So if there are any black lesbian MP's out there, this is your lucky day. |

Hmm, if Dianne Abbott starts batting for the other side she's in a perfect position. |

Harman is basically just a prude that is exceptionally unrealistic and radically feminist. she wantsa cabinet that is 50 50 women when the labour party has what 31% of the parliamentary party as women so this doesn't make sense numbers wise. Nevermind whether or not this would be based on ability since many of these women were selected on the basis of forcing women into parliament not finding the best candidate for each constituency. |

Sexist idiot, so when they have 49% women and they advertise for a position and a better qualified male applies but the less qualified female must get the job to make up numbers. This is such a good idea perhaps we should apply it across the board. You know there is a lot inequality in child care maybe we should put thousands of women out of a job and replace them with men. Why didn't we think of this earlier. |

Oh let's not start that again ![]() DF has a good point though. I'd imagine there are also an awful lot of jobs that should be kept unfilled until there are sufficient male candidates to fill them. I mean, I'm sure the NHS can do without a few thousand nurses for a while. And it may mean your bins don't get emptied more than once every six months but I'm sure we can get gender balance in refuse collectors eventually. Your house being infested with vermin is surely a small price to pay for equality.. Jon |

Could you imagine how horrendous parliament would look if half of the members were women, wearing colours similar to what the minority do now. Time to downgrade to a B&W TV. |

Men do get breast cancer, although its rarer than in women. However I dare say if you tried comparing the amount of public money that is spent on cervical cancer screening and treatment vs that which is spent on prostate cancer screening and treatment, you might be slightly surprised. |

This such a retraded, sexist idea. I'm starting to think that for most women "equality" actually means sexism in their favour. |
