It is rare in the UK. Maybe we got rid of all our crazies to the US.

Latest headlines on Beeb site indicate the Police believe they've found the gunman's body.

Expect some knee jerk response from some politician in the very near future.

and for an obligatory bad taste comment:-
Is the man bald? Does he have a barcode tattooed on the back of his head?

Leave the bad taste comments to us. Though it will also be a pressure group complaining about the access to guns. If they were all illegal what will they do next?

They pretty much are aren't they? Breech load shotguns or bolt action rifles only and then in very specific circumstances only I thought.

Don't the Olympic shooting squad have to do most of there training in Switzerland because of the gun laws?

The suicide option is what that series has been missing - you wanna forward that on ;)

It's sad to see the tragedies of Dunblane and Hungerford being aired because of what's taken place in Cumbria today.
It's just a series of really sad occurrences that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Agreed the reasons for these are probably very very different yet they will still grab the weakest link to show them to fill up empty screens and avoid doing any proper reporting.

Dead now total 12.

Like usual it sounds like it's an ordinary guy who seemed to be well liked who's flipped for no significant reason.

Would be interesting to know if he had a gun licence.

Reading more about it here.
As more details become known it just gets more and more tragic. Literally people just going about their daily lives indiscriminately picked off for no other reason than being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

If he did not have a licence and they were illegal guns it would just show what a waste of time and effort the law was. Driving guns underground does not make us any safer. Proper licensing will help and decent mental health care is crucial.

Surely the fewer guns in the country, the less likely it is that any of us are injured or killed by one.
They are, by and large, unjustifiable for practically every member of the public. The few who do require them for work are legislated for. 'Because I think they're beautiful', 'I like the history', or 'I just think they're cool' aren't reasons for ownership, and certainly 'It's for home security reasons' has been a proven laughing stock.
I've yet to hear a convincing argument for gun ownership outside of professional reasons.

Hybrid drivers may say similar things about muscle cars. ;)
