http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/news/index.c ... ID=3224566 I expect the EU will kick most of this into touch, though the IP owners (who unfortunately aren't the artists in most cases, unless p1ss counts) have made this a global effort now...
Erm, where are they getting those figures from? ![]() I expect they're made up, then extrapolated like most music industry figures ![]() ![]() |

Why doesn't anybody challenge these industry figures? Everyone just seems to swallow them wholesale - including governments. Give me a way of obtaining the latest US TV drama - which just isn't shown in the UK - and I'll happily pay money. |

Not just the latest shows. Many never make it through a full season and so never get shown here at all in any way. |

Ireland debuts Fone-a-Freetard lottery http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/05/28 ... tard_flaw/ Have a read at that, it shows up exactly how ludicrous the music industry (and the government for listening to them) has been ![]() |

The whole thing looks like being a disaster for artists. If you cannot get your music heard then you cannot sell it. Though the artists are not even being considered here. It is the labels interests that they are trying to protect. All it will do is force traffic to be encrypted to avoid deep packet inspection. The ISP's will have to pay for this and it will just push people off the internet. If the ISPs have to add €1 per month many may give up the internet all together especially at the rate wages are falling in Ireland. |
