Politicians tend to be a generation or two out of date with with the youngest electorate. Change will occur but never as fast as that electorate wants it to.

However the world laughing at Australia for being the only Western nation not to have an adults game certification is certainly going to bring it to the attention to the people in power, who quite frankly may have never played games. Pressure is required as much as time.

I'm sure everybody here considers themselves quite open and liberal, but I wonder what will shock us about the entertainment that the young adults get off on in several generations time.

Unless we had achieved stuff like Asia has (stalk/rape/sexual harassment simulations, and IIRC a lot of it is 'mainstream' :shock: ), I hope I wouldn't be too shocked :)

Games are like films in that the majority of people probably want something as realistic as a given genre can go, without being stomach-churning. It does make me wonder how far we can take the graphics and animations...
