The number of homes repossessed in the UK rose to 12,800 in the first three months of the year, the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) has said.

This was up 23% from the 10,400 in the previous three months and 50% up on the 8,500 in the same period last year.

The CML has predicted that 75,000 homes will be repossessed in 2009, almost double the 40,000 of last year.

things can only get better ? …

I laugh when you get 'Mortgage take-up rises in April', and the story says something like 'a slight increase in the rate of people buying homes', which really means two more whole couples bought a house than last month

Buying a repossession can be the cheapest way of getting a house. The number of cheap properties hitting the market in this way could start to bring life into the housing market.

Has the whopping deposit needed, but is letting the market fall further - if Darling says the economy will get better next year, you bloody know it won't! ;)
