But he has a point, the Tories are right wing...so too are the BNP. The big difference is the BNP are rather more open about their views. Their views are surprisingly similar, but the tories have a better PR department/spin doctor. Tories shortlist BNP activist Clicky Tory/BNP pact |

To be fair, if the tory party is creating links to other euro parties who have views like that, then I'd like to know about it. I doubt that the majority of tories share these views, but it could end up being a destabilising influence on the govt if the tories do get power next year. The last thing any govt needs is a side-by-side photo of Prime Minister Dave Snooty with his arms round a Pole, then a photo of the same Pole in a brown shirt, goose stepping round Warsaw.... |

Time to make a left/right distinction. The BNP believe in nationalising key assets and protectionism - this is left wing. The Tories believe in the market and privatisation - this is right wing. Their views on immigration might be in the same ball park, but they're economic policies (the traditional measure of left/right) are completely different. |

Then why do people say the BNP are far right?? http://www.socialistparty.org.uk/articles/7645 Clicky The tories have no actual economic policies, apart from cynical sniping and telling the Sun readers what they want to hear, so it's kinda hard to judge on traditional levels. |

You may remember that Adolf Hitler joined a Socialist party. He then got rid of the communists and lurched the party to the right with a lot of cranky ideas about many things. The BNP have a historical connection to the British Union of Fascists, and have a Fascist ideology (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_National_Party). Fascism is power from the top. Socialism is power from the bottom. Left wing parties tend to believe in localised power, so when Labour moves power away from Whitehall and gives more to regions and local councils, then this is Socialism at work (yes, I know - Labour aren’t that socialist these days but old habits die hard). You will find that after the Russian Revolution, the Bolshevik party moved power from the centralised base (viz: the Tsar) to councils in towns and cities. These were (wait for it) called Soviets. Right wing politics does the opposite - it puts power into the hands of a small group of people at the top. Expect more Whitehall interventions when (if) the Tories get back into power - those pesky local councils won’t be trusted to make decisions on their own. They will be tightly controlled from the top. Fascists follow the right wing model - be they military or civilian. Hitler ruled from the top down, as did Mussolini, Pinochet and (wait for it) the US of A (yes, according to academics, the USA displays a number of hallmarks of Fascism http://www.uncommonthought.com/mtblog/a ... sm_usa.php - there is actually a massive shed load of material on this subject). To define the BNP as right wing based on their ideology is correct. They, like HItler, may have some left wing notions, but the beast as whole is extremely right wing. |

This is scare mongering. They can't beat them on policies or personalities so they try to smear them with the racist tar brush. |

In relation to the politics in the USA, where Obama is more on parity with Cameron, then yes. Over all, there has been a seismic shift in politics to the right over the last 10 or so years. Blair certainly realigned Labour with the centre right. In order to appear more right wing than Labour, guess which direction the Tories are moving? We also have to remember that UKIP was a fragmentation of the Conservative party, and they are as insidious and as dangerous as the BNP when it comes to foreign policy. However, for reasons that are beyond me, they have become almost acceptable in political circles. Perhaps it’s because they don’t attract the violence and have a small private army that makes them more palatable?
This kind of information is necessary. We need to know who our leaders and potential leaders align themselves in a broader political picture. If they are hanging around racists, fascists and holocaust deniers, then surely we need to know. This isn’t playing the race card. For that, watch the Republicans in the USA. |

I agree The Tories are just the left wing of the BNP in many ways. UKIP being the centrists. Oh and Milliband annoys me as well, absolutely nothing to do with his heritage or background. |
