Surely that's something that WhatsApp needs to sort out. You shouldn't be automatically added to a group. Surely the app should send an invite (which you can reject) if someone wants you to join.

Indeed. It’s something I can imagine is annoying. You can add people to groups on FaceBook without their permission too, which is also sucky. I’ve had to leave groups I’ve been added to without my permission. You’re then in a potentially annoying situation where you have to explain why you left...
