A suspected drug dealer thought to have concealed illicit substances inside his body has begun the 20th day of a self-imposed toilet strike.

Essex Police's Operation Raptor team arrested the 24-year-old man in Harlow on 17 January.

A police spokeswoman said the longest a suspect had ever gone without using a toilet was believed to be 23 days.

Are we secretly hoping for a record breaking attempt here?

20 days
It must be pushing on his brain by now. Or he's starting to look like Mr Creosote.

It’s an interesting and gross record to hold I suppose.

I must confess I didn’t think holding it for that long was physically possible, you learn something new every day (even if it does sometime make you want to give your brain a wash with Dettol).

Thing is, he’s not on hunger strike. He’s eating, so adding more and more stuff for his gut to process and store. Also, from what the BBC said a while back, your gut wall is constantly renewing, the bacteria are dying and being replaced, so all that would need to be passed anyway. Also, it’s suspected that he has a package (or packages) of *something* inside his gut somewhere, and it’s possible that that could rupture (it happens).

All the medical opinions posted on various sites so far says that eventually you just can’t stop things from moving on. Nature will win.

The case against a suspected drug dealer who refused to use the toilet after allegedly swallowing substances has been dismissed.

Lamarr Chambers, 24, of Villa Road in Brixton, had been arrested during a police chase in Essex, on 17 January.

Essex Police said it had released him after 47 days in custody after getting medical and legal advice.

Wow. Swallow your gear and button up - they can't do you without the evidence.

Expect a wave of similar attempts in the future, no doubt with some less successful endings.

I'm still amazed he managed to clamp his backside shut for that long. Even without eating food, as I think was pointed out in one of the BBC articles about it, faecal matter isn't all just food residue - its dead bacteria and sloughed of gut lining as well so there's still stuff to get rid off even if you aren't eating much food. The bowels should move of their own accord.

As I said previously, interesting record to hold in any case.
