News CLICKY

I think the best we can hope for is a long term peaceful stand off like we had with the Russians in the cold war. (Mutually Assured Distruction anyone?)
Any attempt at forcing political change with arms will result in South Korea or Japan getting nuked (or even Alaska if the North Koreans are to be believed). Or mayby just a standard invasion of South Korea by the North.

Which one is it?

1. Nuclear fusion
2. Nuclear fission
3. Deep sea fission

1)

Sorry for the poor spelling. He's had 2) for a while now.

There does seem to be some debate as to whether or not he does actually have 1. While it was clearly a far bigger blast than they've produced before there does seem to be some debate about whether or not it was actually a H-bomb or a very large fission device (although that might just be the US trying to play down the significance). Either way not good.

I'd expect Trump to play things up not down. He likes rhetoric.

I think the words 'fighting over the deckchairs on the Titanic' were invented to define people who think that argument is worth having.

Yep, either way it's a nuclear bomb that could kill a lot of people.

Well, quite. Whether or not the blinding flash that etches your shadow into the nearby wall is the result of fusion or fission is largely irrelevant to the victim.

It is of some relevance in terms of the technical competency of the regime however. H-bombs are harder to make and miniaturise than fission ones. If they've managed to get to missile mountable H-bomb level technology already they've done it pretty damn quickly relatively speaking - makes you wonder if they've been getting help from somewhere for instance.
