https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/07/0 ... re_sitrep/According to AVTest, the number of virus samples received in 2016 fell by 14%, which still leaves around 640 million submitted samples.
The report also showed that malware for macOS had increased 270% year-on-year. Although it is still a relatively small number, growing from around 800 threats in 2015 to just over 3,000 reported threats in 2016. Android also grew, with around 4 million samples of malware, with a peak in June of around 640,000 new malware threats.
Windows is still the most targeted platform, with around 70% of threats.
Interesting is the fact, that 1% of malware was encryption ransomware, yet it had the biggest impact.
