Given that Putin (and therefore in turn Assad) had been told about the attacks in advance, this seems to just be a complete smoke and mirrors exercise. The US actually did almost no damage, and planes have already done bombing runs from the airport that was hit. What's more of a cause for concern is that Trump now knows he can complete derail the news cycle by lobbing some missiles at someone.

His reasoning also makes no [LIFTED] sense at all given everything else he's said.
