Here’s how you will be affected by the new car tax rules http://metro.co.uk/2017/01/15/heres-how ... s-6382182/ George Osborne's parting shot! Worth bearing in mind if you're thinking of buying a new car very soon, buy it after April and - unless it's zero emissions - you'll be paying at least £140 a year, some far more. Currently I pay no road tax on my 3-year old diesel Renault, but under new rules it would be £140 if I bought the exact same model brand new after 1st April. That's quite a hike. |

I think I'm paying £140 now, but it's a 14 year-old car and I don't know how much longer I'll be keeping it, so this new tax system is certainly something to keep in mind - but I suspect I'll be buying second-hand when I come to replace my car and as long as it was manufactured before 01/04/'17 then I'll still be using the old rules. Sadly, I suspect this will also up the price of second hand cars, simply because new cars will get more expensive, and therefore demand for good second hand cars will increase. |

Pretty sure I pay way more than that for my thirteen year old 1.6 petrol. |
