As ever, you can bet your sick ass the money isn't going where it's supposed to no matter their claims.

Chronic underfunding shouldn't be subsidized by people who have already paid, full stop.

I can agree some way to charging to stop abuse. But even as staff, we had to pay for parking though we did get a small discount. Charging patients is tricky - I've had to go in as a day case patient and had to pay for parking. A better system I've encountered at another hospital was to stamp tickets that belonged to patients so they paid the same fee as 1hr parking irrespective of how long they'd been there.

Further, a lot of these car parks have been built and managed by a private company so they will want to recoup their costs in some way.
