I understand this bit:

Quote:
changes the molecular structure of the pie

but not this bit:
Quote:
making it quicker to eat.

Anyone care to explain how sending a pie into space makes it quicker to eat? And why would you want to speed up the eating of something that is pleasurable?

You've never been to Wigan, have you? They have a world speed pie-eating championships. They were mortified when someone not from Wigan won it. Even then, the winner was from a town about 10 miles away...

I imagine they'll basically be getting back a freeze dried pie. If anything I'd expect that to make it harder to eat, not quicker as the missing moisture will have to come from somewhere - depending on how long it's up there it could end up like eating dust.
I'm not sure they've got the bit about it reaching massive temperatures on re-entry right either. It'll probably heat up a bit but it's not going to be like a space capsule's re-entry - it won't get anywhere near high enough and I doubt terminal velocity for a pie is going to be quite as dramatic either.

For some reason I'm also now picturing some sort of Reeves and Mortimer sketch where someone in the street gets taken out by a speeding sub-orbital pies re-entry. :D

It's basically the first step towards Lancashire developing an Orbital Battle Weapon capability.

Hmm, I don't think a meat pie is quite the same as a Rod from God. On the plus side - gravy!

Ecky Thump man! Are you mad?
You could probably achieve a higher velocity with a good straight bit of black pudding than a pie - less aerodynamic resistance on re-entry if it was fired at the right angle.

There is no such thing as a 'good straight bit of black pudding.' Proper black pudding is horseshoe shaped.

Well, it would be appropriate then for a weapon of mass destruction to be an abomination. Weapons grade black pudding has a certain ring to it somehow.

And some come in a ring – so it could be classed as a flying saucer

If you're going to use a pie, that's the pie to use.

Best pie ever!

Surely Stargazy Pie is he one to use.
Even fits: "So long! and thanks for all the fish!"
