There seems to be a lot of press about that guy recently - yeah, I know he's an asshat, but it makes you wonder if someone's painting the background for a main event. Do the Philipines have a previously unknown oil reserve or something?

The Americans are currently letting him get on with it, probably just to see if all the murder works out! He's important to them in strategic terms, so the media are maybe wondering how long they can turn a blind eye without dropping him.
