More five-day doctor strikes announced - BBC News http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-37250258
Playing politics? By stating that they're already exhausted and worried for patients' lives? Do one.
Is he catching up on Brexit BS or something? Mind you, he is known for it when it comes to the NHS. |

The GMC is saying that patients will suffer if the strikes go ahead. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-37272676 |

The GMC is just scaremongering. No doubt they've been leant on by the Govt. When junior docs are on strike, it's the senior docs who are on the wards ie consultants (and consultant-level doctors) will be looking after patients. If anything, patients will be getting better care. Also, given that junior docs work in a team headed by the consultant, any problems go back to the consultant, so if a patient dies because of a junior doctor's actions, the consultant will have some liability. |

I had a consultant try to take my blood for a test as the nurses were rather busy looking after an emergency, and he eventually gave up and called one of the nurses across to do it. |

True - the day-to-day things of discharge summaries, bloods, prescriptions etc - will be things normally done by the junior doctors. Doesn't mean consultants can't do them, but it will take them longer. |
