Teachers aren't psychic. They can't know that a student has come into school with a gun before that students starts shooting. Several people will be dead before they can react. Assuming the shooter doesn't shoot the adults first, then even more people will still die.

Also, we have to assume that teachers aren’t in the job because they have the skills/personality that would make for a good police officer. People moaned about the officer not responding to the shooter in the US school (though he was responding according to his training), being branded a coward for his actions, and losing his job. If teachers are armed, would the same labels be applied to them in that situation? The logic seems to be “if you have a gun, you’re expected to act like a hero”.
