Maybe Clinton can carry on what Obama tentatively began with breaking down the nonsense around guns before actually doing something about them. But I wouldn't trust any of them to stand up to that industry in any real sense. I honestly believe it will take Americans to be bombarded with a story where some nutter point blank shoots a baby out in the street, or something equally as grim. You see, now they can define it as 'terrorism', it's an external threat. Therefore not their fault anymore. it's not about 'any given nut job being able to buy an assault rifle and go shoot up whenever place offends him', it's 'those nasty, evil terrorists coming over here and taking advantage of our freedoms'.
It's perfect spin for the NRA and similar idiots. Because, obviously, terrorists can't be reasoned with and they are not a product of 'our' society that we can do anything about. The only solution is to meet force with force.
(NOTE: Almost none of this is actually my personal opinion but it is the way the news spin in the US is already going on this incident).
