Well he's got to do something because prices haven't fallen much at the big 6 at least in part because they're petrified of a Labour government freezing prices so they won't drop them until after they know the result of the election.
Small suppliers undoubtedly have been reducing prices but I haven't been aware of any major reductions from the big 6 although some of them are offering fixed prices deals until 2017 which, incidentally is when any Labour price freeze would expire.

But pointless taking a fixed deal if they haven't dropped the price at all despite the price of crude oil dropping by 2/3. Either they're going to drop the prices themselves soon or the government of whatever hue is going to force them to as a vote winner.

The utility companies have to realise just how massively unpopular they currently are - they're a prime target for a political booting to get the squeezed middle on side for the election. Milliband's statement is just the opening shot.

I don't disagree.
I suppose it depends on how long you think the oil price and hence the knock on effect on gas prices will last, or perhaps more importantly, how long the energy companies think it will.

most if not all of the UK energy companies are owned by European 'nationalised' energy companies. ie Govt owned
when the UK energy companies pay out any share bonuses/payments to the main share holders/owners of/to the European 'nationalised' energy companies
and all tax evasion (legal) via EU channels so these UK companies give even more to our 'so called' EU partners 'nationalised' companies
this money goes to subsidies their 'nationalised' energy and public transport companies at our expense, that’s why our bills are so high and will remain so

the same EU ownership applies to most UK public transport

welcome to the fcuking EU
when we leave the EU we can tax these bastards to death ...
