'Oh, no, it's a bad time for us. And with Xmas coming up too...'

The world's security services would be fcuking hilarious if they weren't so twisted and counter productive.

Seriously, how can there not be criminal charges against those involved. There are clear international laws on the treatment of prisoners or war, hence the Nuremberg trials after WW2 as the Nazi's broke loads of them.

Quote:
Mr Brennan described the actions of some CIA agents as "harsh" and "abhorrent" but would not say if it constituted torture.

He added an overwhelming number of CIA agents followed legal advice from the justice department that authorised some of the brutal methods.

Why say that? Because he needs the other guilty parties to share the guilt in public and continue to hush it up.

Ahhh but the US said they were not Prisoners of War but Enemy Combatants and so did not have the rights under the various laws

Torturing people is considered a crime against humanity regardless of their status in terms of the geneva conventions. Reclassifying them may make GWB & Co sleep better at night but it doesn't change the facts.

I'm sure if someone in the USA decided to rename their tax evasion as "shenanigans" the IRS would consider that to be perfectly fine.

British agents may have known of ‘odd case’ of CIA torture, says Lord West
http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2014 ... -lord-west

Quote:
Sir Malcolm Rifkind, the former foreign secretary leading the ISC scrutiny of UK involvement in torture, acknowledged the redactions could create suspicions but insisted there was no cover-up.

He told the BBC: “I actually had a conversation two days ago with the head of the relevant intelligence agency, and he stated quite categorically what we have now heard publicly: that there were no requests to redact or to conceal anything in the report that referred to any allegations of United Kingdom complicity in the treatment of detainees; that the only redactions that were being requested were with regard to operational matters, which were genuine national security issues. Now, that’s what he has said to us. Of course, as part of our inquiry we will look into that further to be absolutely satisfied.”

Quite apart from his whitewash inquiries into the Rigby murder and global spying, Rifkind is now releasing pro-intelligence agency statements while his latest inquiry is ongoing. Oh, and he gets to decide if there's a larger inquiry into the inquiry...

This is also a former foreign secretary for a party currently in power, with little fear of the opposition since they were in power when it happened!

I imagine they'll just print up some more leaflets to raise the fear level though, eh?
