Government complains of huge fiscal deficit...spends £20bn on futile nuclear deterrent.

It is probably a lot more than that over the life of the program. I think that we would be better to offer it up as part of a global nuclear disarmament program. We could still use nuclear armed tomahawks from our attack subs and possibly even from the carriers once they are built. Scrap them and use the extra funds to save the military layoffs.

We could make a whole bunch of further savings if we stopped invading the middle east too.

Capped benefits of MP's. Limit them to the same as a benefit claimant, especially second home costs.

Cap tax perks so that if you are a multi millionaire that your tax avoidance schemes do not mean you end up with taxes as low as 1%, eh Jimmy. For example ISA's are capped at around £11450 pa cap all tax perks at the same limit.

Tories (whose minds are clearly focussed on the country and not in anyway interested in directorships in defence companies) will clearly feel that tossing the LibDems an important looking bone will somehow distract them from other matters.

TBH the Tories might have a review but no guarantee that they will actually do anything about it.
