clicky

Announced last week, the Asus built Nexus 7 is Google's first own-brand tablet and boasts Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a quad-core processor and a mere £159 SIM free price tag. However, Nokia has alleged that it is not licensed for certain Nokia patents.
It's believed that the patents in question have to do with the IEEE 802.11 WiFi standard, and Nokia told us that neither Google nor Asus have sought to license the technologies.

I love the comments claiming its Microsoft behind this. Nokia need every available penny and the patents are worth something, though AFAIK they are covered by FRAND so it wont be a massive amount anyway.

'SIM free price tag'? It no more needs a SIM card than my sofa does.

Cluelessness abounds.

Don't Asus already pay for 802.11 for all the laptops, PCs.and tablets.they make? Surely they pay for total units.sold, not for each individual model, that would be plain silly.

Anyway shouldn't it be the wifi chipset manufacturer that pays the licence?
