I have my doubts too, but by the looks of it Nintendo will be left in the dust, so...

I doubt even a big leap in graphics would be enough for me personally, I'd be waiting for the second Sony SKU at best anyway, I don't 'do' the other two.

I really hope they give the next generation of consoles lots of tessellation so they can get rid of poor quality shapes.

this, and more GPU RAM for higher resolution textures. About 1gig should be enough the time being, but definitely 2gigs if they plan on dragging this generation out as long as the last one :?

Instead of more polygons, how about having your digital puppets emote more first? Surely if you want to tell a story, this is what you need to do.

2 gigs it is then. They may well be set up for 1080p (max) to start with, but by the end of the next cycle, 1080 may well have been replaced as the standard TV def.

I've never owned a console in my life. With such a long life cycle, I thought the start of the next generation would be a good time to buy in.

i think the Wii U looks good, but im hesitant about getting one after feeling the same way about the Wii and then getting stiffed for decent games. i might get one if the game releases turn out to be ok.

Every Nintendo system SNES-onwards seems to have been that way, which is a shame. But hey, when you're profiting on the hardware alone...

Not sure which route I'm going for the next generation - on the one hand the simplicity of a PS4 appeals, but on the other hand my Steam account isn't tied to one PC, I can take it to any future PC I like. If the rumours of a Linux client for Steam turn out to be true, then I can have the best of both worlds - run my favourite OS and play games at the same time.

In your case, I'd go with the PC. The games are cheaper and will presumably look better if you've got a half-decent card, next-gen console or not.

Out of curiosity (and I doubt this), could you buy a PC game outside Steam but use Steam to patch it etc? Basically link it to your account in some way?

In five years? Is this like 3D and Blu-Ray being the future, Sony?

Actually, maybe Sony are gonna do an Atari

I'm doing to hold off at the mo. The whole blocking of secondhand games and crap DLC has been enough to make me think about going back to PC. The main reason I haven't already is because I already have friends with I game online on the PS3. If they jumped to PS4, I would think about it.

I've got Battlefield 3 arriving soon from Lovefilm. I'm mostly interested in the campaign just for a quick playthrough, fire it in the postbox sort of operation. However should I wish to play the mp I can't, due to the nonsense of EA's 'online pass' (despite online gaming being free from the year dot on even the smallest titles...). So a game I'd consider buying after testing, well, I can't. Genius.

It's nonsense like that which has me thinking, 'Go fcuk yourself, enjoy winding up like the music industry!'
