Eight Hundred million euros for a public transport system for ONE CITY? Which (you assume) already has at least some sort of public transport system anyway. What were they doing, buying solid gold buses? Jon |

I think a few things need to happen here. 1) Greece needs to leave the Euro and devalue their currency, that way the cost of visiting/buying thing from Greece will fall, encouraging more trade. 2) They need to implement an PAYE tax system. The amount of tax dodging at the moment is just a massive massive joke. I'm sure there are other things they need to do and the above suggestions will have major issues attached to them, but I can't see any other way out for them. |

Bus drivers etc are paid a stupidly high amount in Greece. Together with bonuses for things like "turning up to work early" or "checking tickets". They can earn twice the national average wage. |

i think a few things will happen very shortly the bail out money to Greece will be used to pay back French and German banks which are holding a lot Greece's debt Greece has been fleeced and the ECB, French and German banks walk away clean(ish) ... in other news Athens alone has just refinanced, of a sorts, more then €14 billion (that's right 'billion') of debt the hole just keeps getting deeper and deeper ... |
