Alan Carr has announced he is leaving his Saturday evening BBC Radio 2 programme Going Out with Alan Carr.

"I've loved every minute of it but it's time to reclaim my weekends," said the comedian.

Radio 2 over the weekend has become the home to presenters who, I’m sad to say, clack on like old women. Graham Norton, Alan Carr and Paul O’Grady all sound the same after a while. I usually have the radio on when driving, and I seem to get one (or more) of these camp old crones when I’m mobile.

Yes, I could retune the radio, but I like to limit myself to non-advert constrained channels, which gives me Radios 1,2 3 or 4. Other half, who is usually with me, finds 3 and 4 far too “worthy” or “precious” to listen to, and we both don’t get on with Radio 1 any more. So Radio 2 is the compromise.

Agreed.

I really like Sarah Cox at the weekend and Simon Mayo, Chris Evans, Richard Maidley (sp?) and Jamie Cullum through the week.

But Graham Norton, Paul O'Grady and Alan Carr all cause me to turn the radio over.

Although I have to say, Melanie Sykes is a hell of a lot more annoying that Alan is.

Hate to say it, but BBC Radio 1-4 bores me [LIFTED], far too much chatter :?

I prefer TalkSport, except for the news on Radio2, and when the adverts come on I just turn down the volume for a couple of minutes... It's no biggy.

I don't listen to the wireless on Saturdays; I pretty much only listen while I'm travelling during the week. I just hope Carr doesn't return to one of the slots I do listen to!

I flip between 1, 2 and 4 depending on what kind of chat is on. 1 and 2 are often surprisingly similar these days.

I used to listen to the Archers quite often. It used to give a fairly genuine account of topical issues facing the British farming community. Now it's all just sex and drugs and rock and roll...

What about the burning issue of Borsetshire Land's planned mega dairy? Not much sex, drugs or rock 'n roll there. ;)

Mega dairy? Sounds pretty Rock'n'Roll to me! Will there be an arcade?

No, just cow sheds. I suppose there probably will be drugs - more likey antibiotic than recreational.
