Since the supposed announcement is but an hour or so away, might as well put a thread up :)

Rumours I've heard so far...

Retina Display
Semi-Retina Display
Smaller 7" version
Haptic display
Slightly thicker than the iPad 3.

I think those are the major rumours I've heard.

Hoping for pressure sensitivity which would work nicely with haptic feedback, but I am guessing that this is out of the question.

I think I'd like the cheapest wifi only one to be about £100 cheaper. The current price points are just a bit beyond my reach in these straitened times.

1080p AppleTV, new GUI, all iTunes Movies will be available in 1080p and your iTunes Match also now includes video content bought from the iShop. Same price as before.

iPad 3 with 2048 * 1536 'retina' display (246 dpi), better CPU '5AX', one mention says it's quad core, new better camera on the back (5MP, 1080p video, built in stabilization), LTE (in the US at least), HSPDA+ also, better battery life even with the new hardware.

16GB version is $500, I think that's a bit cheaper than the ipad 2, can't check as the shop is off the air.

Shipping 16th March, available to order today (In the US, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland and Japan)

Note: it's apparently not the iPad 3 or iPad HD, they're just calling it an iPad.

Updates to all the iWork & iLife apps on iOS. Free if you've already bought them. In Garageband, up to four iPads can collaborate via bluetooth so you can form a band entirely of people playing iPads. iPhoto for iOS (update: It's a universal app). I suspect a lot of iOS devs will be unhappy about that, given how many camera apps there are on the iShop. Looks quite nice although it's no Aperture/Lightroom. Probably going to be £2.99 or £3.99. Available today.

(by the way, can I start a campaign to ban the use of the phrase 'take it to a whole new level'. It means nothing.)

Update : the A5X is a dual core CPU, but it has a quad core GPU in the package.

iPad 2 will continue to be sold, base model only, price drops by $100. The iPad 2 will still be called the iPad 2, this one will be apparently called 'The New iPad'. Not confusing at all that. As one blog puts it - #fourcandles.

I thought that was any movie from any source. I look forward to getting HD versions of the movies I’ve recorded off the telly if that’s the case :-D

it narked as I bought an AppleTV in January, which is 720p. Maybe software update will up the resolution (would be damn cool if they did).

Retina display + updated drawing apps = me buying, I think. Looks like my dream for pressure sensitivity is quashed for another iteration, but there are stylus solutions around the corner.

You're right, technically it's an update to 'iTunes in the cloud' not iTunes Match. I wouldn't hold your breath for it to turn up in the UK either way.

One of the things being demoed on it was an Autodesk drawing app that looked rather nice.

From what I have seen on the blog I’m following, yes, it sounds great.

I really like the look of this iPad. Sadly I need to save my cash for other things. I wonder of they have upped the amount of RAM.

I did read a rumour about a new smart cover that will protect the front and back. Wonder if that will make an appearance.
