This is the USA flexing its muscles and a lopsided extradition treaty. We ratified our end, they have yet to do so. I do think that Gary has brought it on himself though. You know that if you do something like this, they will come after you, especially in the post 9-11 climate. |

I don't like the treaty in general, but in this case I can't see why he shouldn't be extracted. He admits hacking PC's in America, hacking is a crime, his reasons for doing it are irrelevant. |

i agree with that ... but the crime did take place on British soil therefore it should be British justice that hears the case America has to learn that sovereign nations, other then themselves, do have a justice system that they must let, without hindrance, carry out justice ... |

The man pressing the buttons was on British soil, but the crime was committed in America. If I launch a missile at France, is the crime on English or French soil..? |

No conundrum, the server was in America, so the crime could only have taken place in America. The guy was sitting in the UK, but he made a connection to a machine in America. The data he looked at was in America... |

I disagree. The computers hacked were in America, the crime took place on American soil. |

The crime took place on the internet, which is not anyone's sovereign territory. The claims as to where it took place are as equally (in)valid as each other. The fact is though the guy's already served 10 years, which is a pretty long sentence for what he actually did regardless of where anyone might claim it actually happened. The just thing to do would be to say he's served his time and release him. Jon |

He hasn't actually served time in prison though, has he? I thought he lived at home with certain restrictions in place. |
