Completely ridiculous. When someone commits suicide, they tend not to think what'll happen to others, except maybe their loved ones. Maybe he thought he'd get squashed under the train? |

He didn't commit suicide though. He was crossing the tracks trying to catch what he thought was the train that was going to stop at the station. Either way a very bizarre case. |

Sorry. Misread. Even so, if he thought he was going to get hit by a train, he wouldn't have crossed, surely? |

OK this is totally messed up. This judge's brains must be wired different to normal people, because that decision is not the product of a normal common sense.
If it was "reasonably foreseeable" he wouldn't have stepped in front of the damned train he blindingly obviously didn't bloody see coming! Blindingly obvious to "normal people" anyway. This was not a deliberate act; it was an accident.
Anyone who uses the train regularly in the UK will be familiar with the following words: "Warning - stand clear of the platform edge. The train approaching platform four does not stop here" Usually followed by the Virgin express whizzing passed at up to 120mph. Frankly, I appreciate the warning of the open and obvious danger. Those trains appear in a couple of seconds and I don't fancy be taken by surprise, even just standing on the platform. |

I'm sorry, but if you're about to walk across a track, it's your responsibility to look both way just like you would before crossing the road. If you can't see, you don't cross. |
