No. Just no. It's a sad story, for sure, as any death of a toddler is a terrible thing.

But I'm sorry, blaming dangly cords over lack of common sense is just madness. Why not just tie the cords up out of reach? Help the child learn the dangers around them? Actually supervise your child while it plays?

No, too sensible by half. We must ban everything in case it's dangerous. :x

Next someone will want every street mopped because a child licking the ground could get in for 'some reason'
Life is full of hazards, you can't ban them all...

As an aside, I'm surprised that the blind didn't have some sort of mechanism which would break if excessive force is applied

Make sure you don't play any video games for 6 months prior to using that shotgun...The video game might get accused of encouraging you...

This is a very sad story. But...

Yep. That is what it comes down to, unfortunately. And while it maybe makes them feel better about their own negligent parenting, what right do they have to demand that all looped cord blinds be banned?

Emotion makes people stupid, shortsighted and irrational.

They're probably the same bloody-minded idiot parents that let their kids run around a restaurant then blame the restaurant staff when they get burned or cause an accident.

You have to pass a test to drive a car, but they'll let anyone be a parent.

They certainly are very capable of bringing all the ills and evils of humanity to your desktop in neatly formatted packets of data.

But you do have to be pretty thick to take everything you read on it as gospel.

It’s on a screen. It has to be true. Same mentality which makes anything in print true and anything on the telly true.
