This actually makes the Mac Pro into a proper workstation, as the current range of graphics cards are old an underpowered (or both).

A decent gpu was the only thing stopping me from buying a mac pro.
Great that's £3k I've got to spend now :D

Yeah, used is ruled out anyway as it has to be a DDR3 one and they are thin on the ground.

I suppose EVGA will keep updating so you won't ever have to be stuck with an old card ever again. PLUS you can sell the GTX285 when EVGA bring out a replacement for loads more than its worth to someone with a Mac Pro !
