Good article.

There is so much such nonsense reporting around these days it is really annoying. And I'm not all that well educated really but the number of times I sit up reading something saying 'really?!' then with easy work find my suspicion of dodgy statements/figures is/probably is true is really quite staggering. Lazy research and lazy reporting adding up to nonsense.

I would never justify piracy, and I think it is harming some industries like PC gaming, but I find some of the figures to be nonsense. A single download does not mean a single sale lost. Take Photoshop for example. If a teen downloads it to mess around with their pictures before uploading them on MyFaceSpaceBook for some notion it has 'cool' effects then that's not a lost sale. The person in question was never going to pop down to PC World and spend £600 of saved up pocket money on professional editing software.
