Holy cow, it total is like blue totally all over everywhere!

Does no one remember the poll tax and Mad Maggy being dragged screaming and ranting from office?

This is why people under 30, BMW drivers, retards, foreigners, civil servants and women should not be allowed the vote. Remember; Labour are there because the majority voted for them. The majority of people are selfish, stupid or ignorant. If I had my way, only true democrats like me would be allowed to vote. Stupid people are destroying democracy and should be stopped. They should re-run the elections until they have the correct result, and shoot the damned fools who get it wrong.

Sadly not actually, the majority could not be bothered to vote, the majority of those that could be bothered to vote, voted them in. A difference of about 25 million people sadly.

We really ought to do something about this like penalise you if you don't vote. We've got to the stage where we are governed by people that the majority of the population didn't vote for. Now is that democracy? :?

Increasing turn-out should be a matter of education and motivation. If we had lively and interesting debates between people we could actually believe in, then perhaps more people would care. Maybe there should be a "Political Big Brother" in the run-up, since millions of people watch that.

Forcing people to vote is not only fascistic, but it would increase the number of poorly considered votes and thus dilute or even pervert the true will of the people. It's a very bad idea indeed. My previous post was meant to be ironic, but I do believe there is a case to be made for reducing the number of people eligible to vote. Perhaps some kind of exam to determine if you actually understand and believe in your own choice.

Additionally, the current non-proportional system completely fails to represent the votes of those people who do actually care enough to turn out. There have been cases where the party winning the most votes did not win the most seats. It totally depends on uneven distribution of wealth and beliefs between constituencies. If 51% voted blue and 49% voted red evenly throughout the country, blue would win every seat and red would be completely unrepresented. That is not democracy. That's a race.

The new Doncaster Mayor is an English democrat.

Well Northamptonshire has remained solid blue with Labour virtually wiped-out - going from 20 councillors to just 6.

That sounds like the national picture. Euro results tonight. Expect another Labour rout.

Indeed. Rumours abound that the Tories have knocked Labour off the top spot in Wales of all places!

It would appear that the Pirate Party in Sweden has gained a seat.

Just seen that. Crap. This means they will be claiming legitimacy.
