Take a look at this.

I posted that last year ;)

If nothing else a tablet is good for getting away from the normal desktop 'way' :)

Battery life is generally excellent, and you can't say that about the average laptop/netbook without adding a heavy third party battery.

Just being able to view things in portrait mode without scrolling or feeling like you're scrolling for ages is great.

Free/cheap stuff on your chosen store is excellent, even though I'm not the sort of person who downloads an app for just any old bollocks.

I could go on for ages, and I had serious doubts about ever owning a tablet

As usual, it is very nice, but I still don't see why I would want one.

i have a 15.6" laptop with 1920x1080 display and I can have multiple windows open for working.

When I'm on the move, I have my smartphone(s) for quickly searching for something.

At work I have a dual display desktop, where I can have even more windows open, enabling me to work faster (usually 3 or 4 reference windows, whilst I type into another (reports, documentation or presentations based off of diverse source materials).

That covers all of my needs. Doesn't stop me wanting an iPad (and more the Asus Transformer Prime with HD display), but I just don't see where I would use them.

This made me laugh:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/a ... China.html

especially when it got to the bit ""Anybody who continues to do so will be seen as intentionally infringing rights and the company will adopt the most severe measures by taking legal action" - this from a country that seems to have a different understanding of IP/copyright (namely, if we do it it's okay, if you do it it isn't). Protectionism anyone?

Absolutely. But if you can get away with it...

Quick bit of info - you know I mistook their announcement to be 'iTunes movies match'? Well apparently it kind of is. Reports suggest if you have bought any of those 'double/triple play' DVDS or BRs that have a 'digital copy' as well as the disk, the new AppleTV identifies them in your iTunes library and allows you to view them streamed from the iTunes shop, rather than from a local PC/Mac.

I guess all Apple has to do is keep on with the blocking tactics and wait.

Ordinarily, yes. But Proview's major creditors are the five biggest banks in China. They're wringing Proview for as much of their money as they can get back. Proview on it's own would have been crazy to take Apple on, but it's creditors have enough money to keep a legal fight going as long as it takes.

TBH, I suspect Apple could settle this out of petty cash, given how big their money pile is. They probably earn more in 'interest' in a year than it would cost. I assume they're just seeing if the banks will back down before it gets to that point.

From that post, it seems you are never at home - always at work or on the move.

I only use my tablet at home. It's very sociable because you can pass it around and share things. Of course, this may be a problem if your partner is a technophobic paranoid crazy person.

It is the administrators that are doing the sueing, I believe. Proview were already in administration, before they went after Apple.
