Hunt saying today that he'll impose the contract if there isn't agreement is basically telling people that killing the NHS is the object of the exercise.

BMA give in to DoH = doctors are overworked and leave or go off sick. system deteriorates, Tories shout 'Look how terrible the NHS is! The Private sector will do this better! Let's get them to do it instead!'

BMA doesn't give in the DoH = DoH imposes new contract, doctors leave en masse, system deteriorates, Tories shout 'Look how terrible the NHS is! The Private sector will do this better! Let's get them to do it instead'

The only way to stop this is for the voters in Tory constituencies to make it utterly clear that if they scrap the NHS they'll be dead in the water come 2020. However the average Tory voter seems to believe what's on the cover of the Daily Mail, so there's not much chance of that. They'll only realise the mistake they've made when their first bill for private health care hits the doormat and by that point we'll all be screwed.

Can’t help thinking that the new contract is exactly what the private sector would impose anyway, so it’s a ground preparing exercise.

I could write to my MP, but as I’m not a Tory voter, I certainly can’t leverage my argument by threatening to vote for someone else.

Yeah, but they shouldn't know you're not a Tory voter and a statement along the lines of 'I won't be voting for you in future' wouldn't be a lie either.

So now he's going to "impose" a new contract. If he was going to do that anyway, why go through all the talks?

Sounds like he's trying to achieve it by any means possible.

Well that's bollocks for a start, they've already dropped at least a half dozen things that were in their manifesto.

Just read this: http://benedictcooper.co.uk/junior-doct ... o-warn-us/

Basically a junior doctor tried to whistleblow and as a result has to go to court against the trust trying to silence him.

Quote:
at one point he was up against four separate law firms appointed by the NHS, HEE and Jeremy Hunt

Please disseminate.

A version of that story turns up in Private Eye at least every few months. It's a fcuking disgrace.

The Government is determined not to yield ground on its plans reclassify Saturdays as normal working hours, as it would set a precedent for contract negotiations with other NHS staffing groups, including nurses, who are expecting to enter negotiations about new contracts later this year.

As I figured - the aim was to target the junior docs first and then the rest of the NHS workforce.

This is turning out to be this Tory governments version of the miners strike.
They have to break the BMA to push forward with their agenda for privatisation in the NHS.

i am glad someone has got there.
over load the NHS, regardless how, thereby destroying the infrastructure making it very vulnerable to privatization.
an absolute classic operation not just by this Govt. but ALL Govt. regardless ...

With apologies to Neil Innes...

Brave Sir Jeremy ran away
Bravely ran away away
When danger reared its ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled
Yes, brave Sir Jeremy turned about
And gallantly he chickened out

Thing is, he never seems to be around when things get tough. Maybe he’s just not the person to go to in a crisis (unless, obviously, you want to make one).

It's been pointed out that whilst there's a lot of hate against Hunt, he is but a puppet of Cameron and is only doing Cameron's bidding. Hunt could easily be removed but someone else will come along to do what DC wants.
