Shakespeare is terrible on account of being 500 years old, the language and terminology is horrendously inaccessible to modern audiences/readers.

I beg to differ.

I don't think I ever got Shakespeare when I was younger because I didn't spend the time to break through the language and actually listen to the words.

After studying Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet at school it made me realise that the plays were actual stories with interesting plots and stuff.

Yes, you have to get through a lot of language but if you spend the time to listen to it it gets really interesting.

With the aid of a dictionary it took me almost 30 minutes to read two pages of my first Danish book, I almost gave up on it as I couldn't follow the story. A couple of days later I tried again without the dictionary. I understood the story completely even though I didn't know the meaning of every word. I read it once more with the dictionary, it took a long time but my understanding improved and I didn't need to follow the story.

Ok so Danish is a living language and may be more relevant, but saying Shakespeare should be modernised will not guarantee a good translation.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.
