Well, anything's better than Ecclestone and Co.

I don't believe the deal gets rid of Ecclestone (yet), just CVC's "interest" in the commercial rights to the sport.

Indeed. Allegedly the deal will give Liberty the largest single shareholding (something like 35%) but Bernie won't be selling any of his share. I dare say he's hoping one of the other media mega-corporations comes in and a bidding war starts so he can get the most possible cash from the deal.
