Microsoft: Office 2011 for Mac will be 32-bit only

I can't see that being a problem except for excel. I have some pretty large spreadsheets with plenty of nth roots and they need multi-precision and that can be a problem with just 32 bits.

Ok look I've honestly tried very very hard to resist saying this but I'm going to anyway. Simple solution use a decent operating system  ( I am joking honestly  ) Runs off into the distance.

With Microsoft advising Windows customers to use 32-bit, it isn't really a surprise...
That said, on Windows, the biggest reason to stick with 32-bit is the add-ins. We use a few, especially for Excel, which means that we don't have a choice, until the producers of the add-ins update.
It is also a major reason why Open Office and things like Google Docs are non-starters.

Well, Office 2008 on the mac was sh**e, so this hasn't changed my mind about not buying it. I'd rather use iWork. Word compatibility may not be foolproof, but it is far nicer to use and for PDF's it is just fine.
