I had the chance the other day to use £3.5k's worth of Canon EF 300 F2.8 L IS USM lens on my 40D. I cried when I handed it back  It was very, very, very nice :D

why are you not entering the monthly photo comp HERE ??? :D

Never was a visitor to the old forum, not really a visitor there now.

Well, it's kinda down/under maintainance/closed just now which is why the comp is here :D And you're here :D And you've got good stuff :D And once you've figured out how to download from a portable usb stick you can enter from just about anywhere :D

Ooo yes I can imagine! What a great lens that would be...

Sadly Canon have discontinued their 1200mm monster, so I'll never be able to own one!

No, sorry, that's just a phone. No matter how many gigamegapixels it has, it's a communication device.

:D

I'm going to upgrade my phone next month and was suprised to read in several reviews that the Sony Ericsson C905 is the first phone that could realistically replace your standard point and shoot compact camera

Not according to The Gadget Show this week. The C905 is not as a good as a proper camera.

Canon EOS 30D
Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens (Wide Angle)
Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM Lens (Telephoto)
Some average discontinued 35mm - 70mm Lens (Standard)
Tamrac Bag
Variety of filters and hoods
2 x Extreme III 1GB CFs
1x Extreme II 256MB CF

These three deal with pretty much everything I need to shoot, with the 10-22mm being especially handy considering the 30D is half-frame. That said, both the telephoto and standard zoom are average to poor and I am waiting for the time (i.e. when I can afford it) to replace them with some multi-purpose mega zoom like the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens, or the more reasonable Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L USM Lens.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

I have a Canon EOS400d with kit lens. That's it at the moment.

I recently borrowed my dad's EF55-200mm lens which was very handy. Has a UV filter on it.

When the finances allow it, I will get another lens or two.

Like Heather, I prefer not to use the flash so a wide aperture lens will probably be next along with a long zoom lens to cover most things.

Like, toadly.

Only on the smaller sensor it's closer to an 85mm ƒ/1.8. Still ahsum though.

This one looks good:

It is 56mm on the smaller sensor. Price doesn't seem too bad from a quick search.

Got it, and it is good.

However, it's a semi-wide angle on the full frame, and there's a bit of barrelling at the edges. Still, I carry it around over the nifty fifty until I get a "proper" camera. ;)

Since I won't be getting a full frame camera any time soon, I think I can live with that.

How much do you want for it? Batman may be in the market.
