I know Ollie covered this a bit in his "focus" thread, but I thought this might be worth posting in a new thread for anyone looking around for tripods and the like.

I'm starting to think my tripod's a bit too annoyingly heavy. Can't afford to replace it though. Oh well!

Top tip - a bit of female velcro on the tripod and male velcro on your cable release. No need to hold the release for hours... well seconds... :D

Here is the kit used to mount cameras to a car, as used by my Crossfire driving friend.

Wouldn't using female velcro on the release be more comfortable to hold? :?

Depends. You will only be holding the release for a short while and I just thought the female velcro on the tripod would be less likely to catch when setting up or carrying it?
