I'm starting to think my tripod's a bit too annoyingly heavy. Can't afford to replace it though. Oh well!

Top tip - a bit of female velcro on the tripod and male velcro on your cable release. No need to hold the release for hours... well seconds...  Al

Wouldn't using female velcro on the release be more comfortable to hold?

Depends. You will only be holding the release for a short while and I just thought the female velcro on the tripod would be less likely to catch when setting up or carrying it? Al
