Dr Brian May, who when he isn’t being Sir Patrick Moore’s butler or accompanying a Freddie Mercury wannabe with the remnants of Queen, collects stereoscopic photos. He’s a bit of a geek in this, and has one of the biggest collections going. Anyway, he has published a book - A Village Lost and Found, which includes a lot of stereo photos, both new and old, as well as a bloody fine fold-up viewer which not only lets you view the pictures in the book, but also any old 3D stereoscopic images you may happen to have laying around. I was given a copy for Christmas, and it’s a magical thing. Here is the web site http://www.londonstereo.com/ Those of you keen on the 3D images in the the other thread here may find this a worthy thing to buy. It tells you how to take images with a regular camera (albeit the left and right frames separately). I also found an app for my iPhone which does the same job, and makes image that work in the viewer which comes with the book (picture, if you will, me balancing my iPhone in the viewer!). This is all jolly exciting, and I have even found that FujiFilm have a 3D camera which has 2x10 megapixel CCDs. Bugger - I may just end up with one of those. |

There was a feature on this some time ago on TV that I remember catching. Brian May is a truly fascinating character. I'd love to be stuck in a lift with him. Mark |

+1 He was talking about his collection on one of the 3D programmes on Channel 4 recently. I agree - he is a fascinating person. I have examples of his music, as well as two books written by him now. You probably have Bang! - if not, get a copy. What I don’t have is one of his guitars. http://www.brianmayguitars.co.uk/ |
