Hi all!

timark_uk and I have just been on a photo tour of Northern Ireland. I have no idea when Mark will get his act together and upload his, but mine are available on flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickminers ... 653055204/ if you're interested...

Cheers

Nick

I'll upload mine some time over the next week, when I've got my Photoshop Mac set up and also when I've setup the droplet action in the application.
After that, I'll have to think about if I want to start the laborious process of replacing all the images I have on Flickr or if I'll simply start from this point onwards.

Mark

Edit? No, they're not edited. They are all as they came out of the camera, except the black and white ones which have been, well, converted to black and white. What do you not like about 'moss'?

Not bad at all Nick - good cross-section Image Image Image Image

I can see where Bratty is coming from in 'Moss/Lichen'. It's the depth of field that is buggered in the foreground that make the pic difficult on the eye IMHO.

Excellent. I see that as well as being a capable photographer, you are something of an artist as well.

All SLR photography has given me is the ability to take better photographs, but I'm not an artist at all.

He does, I do believe, and he does have a jolly nice camera with very decent glass in front of it.

I think Nick shoots in RAW. Most folk serious about their digital photography do, I think.

I'd seriously suggest you give it a try. You can use the software your camera came with to edit and tweak, exporting to JPEG if you want later. Or you can use software like Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop.

If you're using JPEG to give you plenty of images on your memory card, then all I can suggest is you invest in bigger cards. My lowly EOS400D takes RAW files that average 10MB each, and I can get nearly 300 on a 4GB card.

Go on, give RAW a go. You won't regret it.

I only use JPG for sports, where the larger buffer is useful, and the quality less vital - but that's not really photography, more journalism/photo-taking.

Nick does indeed shoot exclusively in RAW format.
David, why do you shoot jpeg?

Stop shooting in a crappy format and you may get better results.
