Someone has taken a Ricoh Theta camera to bits. https://zavax.wordpress.com/2015/11/12/ ... ma-camera/ It's a 360 degree spherical camera. Some interesting surprises in there. Some fairly off the shelf components, as well as some interesting arrangements around the lens and image sensors. I have one of these. Bought it second hand, and it's rather good (if a little mobile phone in image quality at times), but costly new IMO. Newer models are, apparently, better and shoot video too. |

Since this tear down, there are people taking their Theta S models apart and replacing the MicroSD card with a higher capacity one. Some are even cutting little slots so they can access the card without taking the cameras apart. It does seem odd that Ricoh don’t provide a slot for such a need. The memory supplied is pretty poor, especially when video comes into play. |
